Bhrighu Lake Trek

Bhrigu Lake is a High-Altitude glacial lake located in the upper Kullu Valley on the eastern side of the mighty Rohtang Pass near Manali in Himachal Pradesh. It is an ideal trek for both beginners, experienced trekkers as well as families. At an altitude of 14,000 ft, this trek offers stunning views of
the alpine meadows and grasslands. It is believed that the famous saint Maharishi Bhrigu used to meditate near the lake.

Proposed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Manali and transfer to your Guest House/ Hotel. Later Meet the Tour Manager/ Guide and have a short brief on the Trek.  Half day Sightseeing tour of Manali and surrounding area.

Altitude: 2050 mts | Overnight: Hotel/ Guest House. Meals: Dinner Only

Day 2: After Breakfast drive to Gulaba (start point of the Trek around 1 hr drive). Start the trek towards Rola Kholi – our Trek Base Camp. The trek distance is around 6 km and it takes about 3 to 4 hrs to complete the trek depending on the speed and no. of breaks. The climb is going to be a little steep on its way up the mountains through covers of conifers and finally you descend little to reach the camp site near a small stream. 

Altitude: 3800 mts | Overnight: Camp – (Alpine Tents).  | Meals: Breakfast/ Packed Lunch/ Dinner at Camp.

Day 3: Today, we will trek to Bhrigu Lake and you will experience a great change in the landscape from the last day. Starting early in the morning, we will have to cover 10 km in about 7 to 8 hours. The trek is moderate and starts with a stony trail followed by a steep initial ascent followed by a slight descent, walk on levelled ground for a couple of minutes, and makes a final steep ascent to the lake. Depending on the Season and weather, you might find snow and fog along the trail, so it’s recommended to be attentive and follow the Trekking Guide. After spending some time at the Lake, we will retrace our steps back to Rola Kholi and spend another night at the campsite under the stars (if the weather is clear 😊)

Day 4: After Breakfast at the Camp, we make our way back from Rola Kholi campsite to Gulaba, retracing the same meadows and forests that we came up from. The down trek is expected to take 2 to 3 hours as you descend to the Gulaba village. After reaching the roadhead, transfer back to the Hotel/ Guest House (around 1 hr drive). Later Free evening at Leisure on your own and you may explore the Mall Road of Manali and may be do some souvenir Shopping.

Day 5: Breakfast in the morning and later Check out from the Hotel as per Hotel Check out timing. Later transfer back to the Volvo Bus Stand, Manali for the onward Journey.

Requirements
  1. One extra pair of socks, t-shirts, pyjamas comfortable for walking, light and warm jacket, torch with extra battery and a poncho as it can be rainy depending on the weather at that time. 
  1. Day sack is a must to carry your poncho, water bottle and lunch and extra jacket while walking from camp to camp.
  1. Good walking shoes and walking sticks if required for comfortable walking, also it helps a lot moving up and down in mountain terrain.
  1. Rucksacks not needed as there will be Mules/ porters to carry your luggage and shall be given poly bags to keep your clothes during the treks which they will carry.
  1. There will be some steep walking up and down mountain paths, so you should be prepared for the same and physically fit.
  1. Sunscreen and Sunglasses/ Personal Toiletries/ Medicines
